Audition Information

Specific audition information for each instrument is available below:
Woodwinds
For your audition, you'll be asked to play a 1-2 minute selection of music (this does not need to be a complete piece) that demonstrates:

Please bring a copy of your music for the audition panel.
We would like to know how you sound, how fast you can play and your range (how high/low) you can go.
Piano accompaniment will not be provided nor expected.
Everyone auditioning will be asked to sight read a short excerpt of music.
We are looking for people who play the following:

Flute (and/or Piccolo)
-
Clarinet
-
Saxophone (Alto and/or Soprano)

The original scoring has only one player playing all of the above instruments. Due to the size limitations of the OLT orchestra pit, people will need to play more than one of the above instruments. If you play more than one instrument, please bring them to the audition to show us. However, you do not need to double at this point. A willingness to learn is all that is required.
Trumpet

** If you have never played (or do not have access to) the doubling instrument, a willingness to learn is all that is required.
Rythm Section

Guitar: Demonstrate both your chording and melodic playing abilities. These don't need to be demonstrated in the same piece of music. Doubling on any of the following is an asset (if you have experience in the following, please bring in to demonstrate):

Classical Guitar

Piano / Keyboard: Please bring in sort excerpts that demonstrate a variety of styles

Bass: demonstrating the ability to play both the electric bass and the acoustic (double) bass would be an asset.

Drum Kit: demonstrate a variety of styles (I.e. rock, funk, Latin, swing)

Mallet & Auxiliary Percussion: the primary focus is on the mallet instruments
